UPDATE 18TH JANUARY 2012

The sale of tickets for the event is quite brisk; we have already sent out over 100 tickets, including tickets for trade stands, to the people who have ordered and paid for them so don't delay, order your tickets now.  Payment can be made by Paypal or by Postal Order to Julie on

julieann1972@live.co.uk

Can you also please let Julie know, when you order your tickets, whether you will be bringing a Wilson Wedgwood pram it will give us some idea of the number of Wedgwood prams we can expect to see.

We have been advised by the Wedgwood staff that the production of a new and unique Wedgwood medallion is to go ahead - they are being commissioned to commemorate the Wedgwood Pram Day and will be a copy of the original Wedgwood pram plaques, featuring the "Motherhood" images designed by Lady Templetown in the 18th century and which will commemorate the Wedgwood Pram Day.   The medallions are NOT pram plaques as they have no shank on the reverse side, but are being produced in the same format as the newer Poppy/Daisy/Peter Rabbit plaques which are fitted to the SilverCross dolls prams.

This medallion will fit the SilverCross Poppy/Rose type pram if required, although it doesn't have a shank like the pram plaques it will fit across the space provided and will need to be glued to the pram.

This is the same set of medallions which will be used on the mini-Wedgwood dolls pram which I shall be producing for the raffle on the day of the event, so make sure you bring plenty of money with you to buy some tickets as this pram will definitely be a one-off and as such will be highly collectible.

These limited edition commemorative medallions will only be made available to the public who are attending the Wedgwood Pram Day on 17th March 2012 so if you are interested in purchasing one or more   then please place your order as soon as you can with Julie Austin on

julieann1972@live.co.uk

so that she can place the orders with Wedgwood who will then have an idea of the number of medallions to put into production.   They will not be available when all the product made on the one-off run has been sold.

We are sorry, but anyone from overseas who wishes to purchase a medallion or a pair of medallions, will need to make personal arrangements with friends attending the event.  The prices quoted do NOT include postage and packing costs either in the UK or overseas.

One medallion will cost £49.95 and a pair of medallions will cost £99.95. Each medallion will measure approx 2.5” high x 1.65” wide.  These prices have been determined by the Wedgwood company and we will make no profit from them for the Hospice,  they are purely a commemorative piece which will be available to buy on the day. It is advisable if you could pre-order through Julie.

As stated previously, each medallion will not have a shank fitted to the back like the existing SX plaques, so if you want to fit them to a pram you would need to glue them on or mount them onto something like a piece of wood and then affix that to the pram.   The medallion could also be mounted on a decorative wooden "shield" and used as a wall-mounted object.

I repeat, these medallions are going to be a limited edition, very few will be produced in relation to the usual limited edition production run so please be aware of that when you place your order.   Medallions can be collected at the event, details will be given at a later date.

Julie   and  her  lovely  lilac   Antibes Wedgwood  pram   have  appeared in the    local  newspaper  in Stoke on Trent  showing  her  beautiful  pram  off  and  also  telling  the  world  about the  Wedgwood  Pram Day.    If  you  would  like  to  take  a look, here is  the link.  The  colours  on  the photographs   are   rather   'bright'  to  say  the least,  nothing like  the  real   colour of   this    beautiful  pram  I must  say.

UPDATE 5TH JANUARY 2012

Those of you who would like to apply for a Trade Stand at this event can contact Julie Austin on julieann1972@live.co.uk and she will be pleased to give you details of availability,  price per stand etc.

Can I also, at this juncture, make everyone aware that the brilliant idea for this event was conceived by Sian James, a lady who is a well-known personality in the South Wales/Swansea area and who has in her career organised and hosted similar events for such organisations as the National Trust.   Sian has a wealth of experience in this sort of thing, not to mention the contacts Sian has made over the years, and we are very lucky to count her amongst our prammie friends.

At last, we can reveal to you the details of the fantastic pram event we have been working on. You have all been very patient and now we are ready to give you the details of a pram day, like no other you have ever attended. Our small committee of enthusiasts have been working behind the scenes, to create the “dream” pram get together.

We are proud to announce, that in partnership with the world famous Wedgwood Museum,

an event will be held at their prestigious site at Barlaston, near Stoke on Trent, ST12 9ER. We are delighted that this internationally famous organisation has agreed to work with us and host the

Wedgwood Pram Day

*****

The Wedgwood Museum is easily accessible to pram owners from all parts of the UK. It has large parking facilities, which can easily accommodate vehicles and provide space to display prams and enjoy a pram walk. The venue is fully disabled friendly and easily negotiated by both wheelchairs and prams alike. The museum offers superb visitor facilities, all of which will be accessible to you.

You already know the date, Saturday, March 17th 2012 and we want as many of you to attend as possible. We also invite you to bring a pram along, all makes, models and ages are welcome. Our intention is to make this a major opportunity to view prams and for your prams to be seen. We would especially love to see as many Wedgwood prams there as possible. Watch your local press as the Museum is launching an UK wide appeal to encourage their owners to come forward.

The Wilson Antibes pram featuring a Wedgwood plaque is a highly sought after, collectable pram, admired and loved by many. Wedgwood provided Lawrence Wilson and Son with five hundred pairs of the jasper plaques in 1959. Three colours were produced – green, blue and lilac.

There is no record of what numbers, in each colour were produced but blue is the most common colour, followed by green and the lilac is very rare. Indeed, until recently there were no recorded lilac prams. One has now been discovered and this gave us the idea to celebrate this unique combination of two of Britain’s most well-known companies– Wedgwood and Silver Cross - in a very special way.

The day will offer pram enthusiast, collectors and the public an opportunity to get together, to enjoy a wonderful day out and meet some of the most well- known personalities of the pram world. A number of guest speakers have been invited; these include Alan Halsall, owner of the Silver Cross marque and Colin Ward, who recently wrote a book for the company, outlining the history of these wonderful prams from 1877 to the present day.

In addition, there will be displays on the history of prams in Britain, live exhibits on renovation and decoration, presentations, question and answer sessions and trade stalls selling, books, pram related items and craftwork. All in all, a pram day organised by pram enthusiasts, in partnership with the Wedgwood Museum, for both the public and everyone who loves prams.

As space will be limited there will be a charge for attending, this money will be used to cover expenses but more importantly, will help raise money for the nearby Donna Louise Hospice, which is the Museum’s special charity. By the way, even the raffle will be unique. The first prize will be a specially created dolls Wedgwood pram,

featuring its own mini

Wedgwood Jasper Plaques.

Our tickets will be available from the 15th of January. These tickets will gain you access to the Wedgwood site and all of the unique events we are hosting there. Details on how you can purchase them will appear here soon. Please remember, that this is a major event and we are working closely with the Wedgwood Museum on the finalised programme. We ask you to be patient for a little longer, keep watching this site and, as soon as possible, we will confirm the programme and get your tickets to you.
